NRNA honours Pemba Rita for carrying NRN Co Chapter banners to Everest summit

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 21The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has honored renowned Nepalese climber Pemba Rita Sherpa for unfurling NRNA NRN Colorado Chapter flags at the summit of Mount Everest during the last spring season. At a ceremony held at the NRNA headquarters, NRN ICC President Dr. Badri KC and other dignitaries congratulated Sherpa on his remarkable achievement in climbing Mount Everest. In the previous spring season, Pemba Rita stood atop Mount Everest with flags of NRNA, NCC USA, and NRNA, NCC Colorado Chapter.

The project was coordinated by NRNA NCC board director Nima Wongchu Sherpa, according to NRNA. This marked Pemba Rita’s 14th summit on Everest; he has scaled the mountain 11 times from the south side and three more times from the Tibet side.Born and raised in Rolwaling, Pemba Rita is associated with Nepal National Mountain Guide Association and a certified IFMGA/UIAGM guide. Apart from his Everest summits, he has scaled K2 twice, Manaslu five times, Cho Oyu two times, Shishapangma once, Himlung twice, and Ama Dablam three times. He also climbed China’s Muztagata 15 times.

On this occasion, NRNA President KC praised Sherpa for his role in promoting Nepal’s adventure tourism globally. “The NRNA community is proud of his success and recognition,” said KC. Nepal Mountaineering Association Senior Vice President Thakur Raj Pandey added that Pemba Rita has not only climbed mountains but also explored a message of unity among the Nepalese diaspora, inspiring all Nepalis living abroad to contribute to Nepal’s climbing community.Sanam Sherpa, Second Vice-President of Trekking Agents Association Nepal, appreciated NRNA for highlighting Nepal’s mountain climbing by recognizing Pemba Rita as its true ambassador. Other NRNA delegates, including Bhim KC “Kamal,” KP Timilsena, PC Baniya, Gyanendra Gurung, Nima Sherpa, Arjun Gurung, Rojina Pradhan Rai, and Raj Kumar Thapa, also congratulated Sherpa for his success on Mount Everest.
