The Secretariat Meeting of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) today disapproved the resignation tendered by party spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha from his post some three months ago.
The meeting held at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar took the decision to this effect. Shrestha had resigned from the post following his differences with the party chairmen regarding the hunger strike of Prof Dr Govinda KC.
“The Secretariat Meeting has rejected the resignation tendered by the central spokesperson,” Shrestha told the media persons informing the decisions of the meeting. Similarly, the meeting held serious parleys on the proposal floated by party’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal. Leader Nepal had registered a compliant letter by expressing his reservation over the decision taken by the erstwhile Secretariat Meeting of the CPN.
Spokesperson Shrestha said that today’s meeting decided to move ahead by considering party’s procedures, process and system raised by senior leader Nepal and other leaders but the decision of the erstwhile Secretariat Meeting would remain unchanged.
Leader Nepal had expressed his dissatisfaction of the Secretariat Meeting’s decision to name province chairpersons, secretaries, in-charges and joint in-charges. The next Secretariat Meeting of the CPN shall be held on 24 October to sort out the remaining issues pertaining to the unification of the then CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre).
