The Ambassador of Japan to Nepal His Excellency Mr. Masamichi SAIGO visited Hon’ble Finance Minister Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada today at Ministry of Finance. During the meeting, the Ambassador and the Minister discussed in detail about the existing and potential Japanese assistance for socio-economic development of Nepal.

Hon’ble Minister discussed with the Ambassador on financial support of Japan in building infrastructure in development effort of Nepal. He reiterated the potential support in building a section of East-West Railway through the soft loan of Japanese EXIM Bank.

The Ambassador requested to expedite the process for Exchange of Note to repair, maintain and expand the Sindhuli Bardibas Road that was constructed in Japanese assistance. The road was damaged in some part due to the earthquake of 2015.

The Ambassador informed the Minister about the Investment Conference recently held in New Delhi to attract Japanese investment in Nepal and focused that the conference may help the Japanese investors to invest in Nepal.

The Minister appreciated the Government of Japan for its continuous support in the socio-economic development of Nepal.
