The Society of Foreign Consuls in New York has felicitated Nepali rights activist Dr Bishnu Maya Pariyar.
Pariyar, who lives in New Jersey in the United States, was felicitated on behalf the consulate generals of 155 countries based in New York. She was conferred the honour at a function held in Manhattan, New York, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.
Pariyar has been working for the uplift of the dalit community of Nepal, said Deepak Pariyar, the editor of an online news portal.
Consular Generals of Algeria, Bangladesh, Barbados, Bulgaria, Georgia, Haiti, Hungary, India, Jamaica, Kosovo, Mexico, Paraguy, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Thailand among other countries were present at the function.
The Society was established in 1925.
