An elderly man receiving treatment at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan committed suicide by jumping from the hospital building, the police said.

The deceased has been identified as Dhanraj Subba, 52, of Jagatpur in Chitwan, and the reason of his suicide is yet to be known.

Subba was admitted to the hospital on March 3 for pancreatitis and took his own life by jumping off the window of a hospital toilet at around 5:30 pm on Sunday, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabhu Prasad Dhakal.

He breathed his last in the course of treatment, he said. His body has been kept in the hospital.
